Ale fans supped nearly 3,000 pints at this year’s Bollington Beer Festival.

Around 800 people attended the fifth annual event at Bollington Arts Centre to sample 46 ales and 15 ciders.

The beers were picked by head brewer Simon Whatmough and commercial manager Amy Wood from Bollington Brewing Co which sponsors the event. A proportion of the funds raised will be set aside to provide grants to community projects which have submitted applications.

Lee Wainwright, owner of The Bollington Brewing Co, said: “We had the weather for it and it was a fantastic weekend.

“Our organising committee put a lot of work went into the event and our visitors with a passion for ale and cider were in for a treat.

“It’s a great event for Bollington and we have lots of things going on apart from the beer. It’s a chance to give money to some local organisation and charities which can’t get money from elsewhere.”

Bollington Brewery made a special brew with an oriental twist to mark the celebration, named Siam Stout. It has a Thai influence, infused with Naga Chilli fresh ginger and lemongrass.
