Ale fans turned out to enjoy more than 250 brews at this year’s Macclesfield Beer Festival.

Revellers attended the Macclesfield Rugby Club this weekend for the charity event which is now in its 22nd year.

This year’s 250 beers included varieties brewed specially for the event, which is organised by Macclesfield Round Table, as well as gluten free beers for the first time.

For non beer drinkers there were 50 ciders, wines and soft drinks.

Live music included Poynton Indie/Britpop band Monkey Harris, contemporary and classic rock and pop band Dazed and Confused, acoustic blues act The Truce, and Cracked Vinyl.

Visitors enjoyed food, tombola, raffle, bar skittles and balloon sculptures.

This year’s proceeds are going to Park Lane School, for children with learning and physical difficulties, to build an all-weather play area.

Lorraine Warmer, headteacher, said: “We have wanted to create a wheelchair accessible play area which our pupils can use all year round for quite some time now, so we’re thrilled to have the support of the Macclesfield Beer Festival committee and the Macclesfield Round Table.”
