Ever wondered what councils get up to in the summer holidays?

Obviously, priorities change. Not so much pressure on schools and roads but leisure facilities and parks come under more scrutiny.

Cheshire East Council is locked in a dispute with Taylor Wimpey, both of whom blame each other for the closure of excellent facilities at Jasmine Park, Macclesfield.

Along with a swing park, the facilities include an all-weather sports pitch with a brand new pavilion and state-of-the-art changing/showering amenities. Meanwhile, local children are denied access to a wonderful facility during the summer holidays.

This play area was part of a major housing development, surely responsibility for maintenance was part of the contract? If not, why not? This is not something you resolve with playground bickering.

Cheshire East Council employs more legal brains than the Old Bailey. Why not cut the expense and use scissors, paper stone?
