A dad will host a huge charity gig in aid of a lifeline hospital service which helped his family after his daughter was born.

Andy and Kate Lewis’s daughter Robyn spent the first two weeks of her life in intensive care in Liverpool after suffering brain damage at birth.

It happened because her brain was starved of oxygen during an emergency Cesarian section.

During this time the couple, of Ivy Road, stayed at Ronald McDonald House, which provides free accommodation for families while their children are being cared for at Arrowe Park hospital.

Andy, who plays with Macclesfield band Cash 4 Chaos, has now enlisted the help of fellow musicians and DJs to put on a special event in the town centre and raise money for the charity and ensure more families can benefit from the service.

The day of music will take place at the Bate Hall pub, on Chestergate, this weekend to raise money to help its work.

Andy, 41, of Ivy Road, Macclesfield, said: “Ronald McDonald House is a great charity, close to our hearts, which provides a lifeline for families with sick children.

“We don’t know what we would have done without the house.

“It meant we could be close to Robyn for every step of her recovery.

“She’s home now and okay, but her development has been affected and she’s being treated for a rare type of epilepsy, but the treatment appears to be working.

“We want to raise some money for this great charity so they can continue to help other families in their hour of need.”

Bands to perform include Elbowdrop and Red Hot Chili Peppers tribute ‘Definitely not the Chili Peppers’ as well as local DJs and a prize raffle.

There will be face painting and other activities for children, a barbecue and food for sale.

Andy, whose daughter Robyn is now eight months old, added: “The best of Macclesfield’s bands and DJs have pulled together for what promises to be a great day of entertainment.

“The gig will be free entry in the hope that many people come and show their support and we will raise money on the night with spare change buckets.”
