An entrepreneur from Macclesfield has landed a top award after entering a competition on Twitter.

Jane Hext was honoured at the Women on Wednesday (#WOW) business awards by Ann Summers’ CEO Jacqueline Gold.

Mrs Hext was selected from hundreds of businesses to win the social media Gold Award for her business ‘Titchy’.

Her company specialises in designing and making unique hand-made gifts and keepsake bears using clothing from members of the customer’s family.

Her core business comes from mums who can’t bear to part with their children’s outgrown baby clothes.

The #WOW campaign encourages female business owners to tweet @Jacqueline_Gold using the hash tag #WOW, from which Jacqueline chooses three lucky winners.

Jane said; “I’ve only been on twitter for two weeks and it’s the first time I have entered the competition so I never expected to win. After the initial shock wore off, I was tremendously excited. I had to keep re-reading the tweet in case I’d made a mistake, I couldn’t believe I’d actually been selected as a winner.

“It is such as honour to be recognised by such an inspirational and successful businesswoman. I am so proud that I can display the Gold Award badge on my website and any communications with customers.

Winners of the #WOW award are chosen for their strong brand values, potential to succeed and quality products.

Jacqueline Gold tweeted: “@TitchyBears is run by Jane who turns cherished items of baby clothing into unique Keepsake Bears that can be enjoyed forever.”

Since launching in 2013, Titchy has gone from strength-to-strength, receiving orders from across the UK and overseas, including the USA and Singapore.

Jane has managed to balance her time working around being a full-time mum to Isabelle, 3, and Evie, 2.
