1. My car:

Toyota GT86 2.0-litre manual (Nav + Leather)

2. Why I bought it:

I like something sporty. I’d not long bought a Celica when Toyota stopped making them in 2006. I knew they had something else in the pipeline so hung on to my Celica and waited. The GT86 was launched at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show. After a test drive in September 2012 I was hooked.

3. Best feature:

Too many to mention but enough room in the back to accommodate a child seat or adults for short distances.

4. Worst feature:

A bit of an odd one, but I really miss the two hooks in the boot, which my Celica had, that you hang shopping bags on to secure them. The contents fall out of the bags and roll around much to my constant annoyance.

5. First car:

A baby-cack yellow automatic Mini. It belonged to my mum but my father died so she was left with two cars. She kept my dad’s Triumph Spitfire and gave me the Mini. A few years later I bought the Triumph Spitfire from her for £80.

6. Best car:

My Toyota GT86. Fun to drive, individual, good looking, comfortable and affordable. I told my son that when I park I always turn round to look at it as I walk away. “Mum,” he said, “that means you love your car.” He’s right. I do.

7. Worst car:

One I hired: BMW 1 series which was very uncomfortable and gave me backache. I’m 5ft 3in and, as the seat base was too long, the front of the seat rubbed the back of my legs.

8. Best drive:

I love going off-piste in my car and getting lost. When on the Llŷn Peninsula in Wales recently I drove up some narrow lanes to see where they went. I came across Nant Gwrtheyrn, the Welsh Language and Heritage Centre. The steep, narrow road beyond took me to the top of a sea cliff. I parked, got out and peered over the wall. I was completely taken aback… the view was spectacular.

9. Worst drive:

Hard Knott pass. It’s a hill pass between Eskdale and Duddon Valley in the Lake District. The road is one of the steepest in England and has a maximum gradient of one in three (about 33%). I have only done it once, but never again!

10. Dream car:

McLaren 650 Spider convertible. I love the looks and the gull-wing doors. It’s not over-styled as are so many supercars
