More than 100 people attended a parade and service in memory of soldiers who died in the two world wars.

Kerridge has a memorial bought by the people of the community in 1918 to the memory of their loved ones and later those lost from 1939 to 1945. There is a well-attended parade to the memorial each year.

The procession was led by Bollington Brass Band from Jackson Lane to the memorial on Oak Lane where Rev Veronica Hydon and Steve Thomas conducted the service.

Wreaths were laid on behalf of Bollington Town Council and other organisations and the 1st Bollington brownies also attended.

Sue Poynton, who is part of a committee of 12 people that form the memorial committee, said: “More than 100 people attended and joined the procession through the village. MP David Rutley and Sir Nicholas Winterton read the roll call of the fallen and air cadet Patrick Mayne told the story of Henry Havelock Snape, a soldier from Kerridge remembered on the memorial.

“Bollington brass band were as always absolutely brilliant with a perfect rendition of the Last Post and Reveille.”
