Veteran stars of Manchester City are to play in a charity football match for East Cheshire Hospice and Macclesfield Town FC.

The seven-aside walking football event at the Moss Rose on Sunday, April 3, will feature City legends Joe Corrigan, Tommy Booth, Peter Barnes, Asa Hartford and Alex Williams, who played collectively almost 1,400 times for the club.

Silkmen manager John Askey will also play in the game, which kicks off at 1pm.

The all-day event starts at 9.30am with a series of junior matches held between local under seven, eight and nine teams. Admission is

£2.50 for adults, while children under 16 are free.

There will be a raffle and an auction where you can win a T-shirt signed by golfer Jamie Donaldson, a signed Macclesfield Town football shirt and a Macclesfield Town mascot ‘Away Day’ experience.

Joe Corrigan, from Tytherington, played 450 games for City and won nine England caps.

Tommy Booth played 382 times, Peter Barnes played for the club 123 times as well as rivals Manchester United, Asa Hartford played 260 times for City. Alex Williams played 125 times.
