A camera club has announced the winner of its annual exhibition.

Macclesfield Camera Club’s exhibition at Macclesfield Library last month saw Steve Gresty’s ‘stunningly detailed’ image of a kingfisher with two fish claim first place.

Amateur photographer Steve, of College Court, Macclesfield, said: “This year’s entry was very strong with so many varied and excellent images, so I was very pleased to receive such interest, and thanks to all who voted.”

There were 192 votes cast from members of the public, who were asked to vote for their top three photographs.

Camera club president, Conor Molloy said: “Steve’s image was a very worthy winner. It was such a well-captured, sharp shot with a beautiful background. We’ve been delighted with the public feedback on the quality of our work, which continues to improve year on year and attracts ever increasing interest.”

The second-placed image was Conor’s own ‘Kissing Beeeaters’ image, showing two birds in mid-air, while third place went to Anthony Gosling for his Manchester urban scene ‘Under and Over’.

Anthony, from Macclesfield, won six trophies for his images, mostly taken in and around Manchester and Liverpool. The dad-of-three said: “Never having won anything I would’ve been more than happy with one trophy but was overjoyed when I picked up six! The camera club have given me invaluable guidance and support and I applaud their commitment to ensuring the club is educational and enjoyable for all.”

Conor said: “It’s a spectacular achievement and just reward for the hard work Anthony put in to improve his photography.” He said he hoped Anthony’s success would inspire others to get more ambitious with their photos.The camera club starts again in September.
