Unfortunately we were forced to suspend the column following the sudden death of photographer Brian Ollier, a former Express photographer who for many years shared his personal collection with us.

We have now teamed up with Macclesfield Library and the Cheshire Image Bank to share more old photographs from the archives and once again will be featuring a collection of images each week.

The top picture on today's page shows a view of Waters Green from Step Hill showing numerous mill chimneys and buses in the 1920s.

The British Empire Exhibition in 1924 was snapped when Charabancs (picture below) were a popular mode of transport for outings during this period.
