A 23-year-old man has been found guilty of the murder of teenager Zain Sailsman.

Ricky Jervis was convicted by a jury at Chester Crown Court this afternoon.

Jervis, of Dale Crescent in Congleton, had denied killing 19-year-old Zain who was found critically ill on Bullocks Lane, Sutton, on October 30 before dying in hospital.

Charles Beadell was unanimously convicted of Zain's murder by a jury yesterday.

Julia Howard, 36, of Shaw Street, Macclesfield, was found not guilty of murder and manslaughter, but guilty of assisting an offender for her role driving Beadell and Jervis away from the scene of the stabbing having known what had just taken place.

The prosecution claimed Beadell, Howard, and Jervis lured Zain to the site where he was stabbed as a punishment because it was believed he had stolen and sold a shotgun used in a ‘turf war shooting’ on October 8.

The court heard that Beadell used the 12cm long knife to carry out the fatal blow.

But the jury were satifisfied that Jervis acted with the common purpose – joint enterprise - to injure or murder Zain and knew of the presence of the knife. Patrick Jordan, 19, of Mow Lane, Astbury, was found guilty of  possession of a shotgun with intent to endanger life for his role in driving Jervis home to Congleton after the shooting on Parkgate Road, Macclesfield, on October 8.

Yesterday, Howard was found guilty of perverting the course of justice for driving Beadell from Macclesfield to Stockport so he could lie low, deleting messages from her mobile phone and moving her SIM card into another mobile phone.

Co-defendant Dale Thompson, 20, of Warwick Close, Macclesfield, was also found guilty of perverting the course of justice after torching Beadell's clothes.Cade Spence, 20, was found not guilty of the firearms charge.
