The self-proclaimed ‘country’s youngest TV director’ from Wilmslow is flying high after watching her debut eight-part TV drama series hit the airwaves.

Nineteen year-old Robyn Forsythe, from Gorsey Road, teamed up with fellow media buff Bethany Minors, 20, from Alderley Edge, to create ‘Life As I Know It’, which documents life as a student in Manchester and premiered on Channel M on Saturday (May 15).

Robyn said: "It was really exciting seeing our programme on TV for the first time, it didn’t really hit us until we saw it. We’ve been so wrapped up in it, but it was great to see it all finished.

"We all went to the students’ union to watch it."

The biology student at Manchester University has always had a passion for performance, appearing in Guys and Dolls when she was nine, the national tour of Evita, Hollyoaks and two runs at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

But she turned her hand to film and TV and, under the guise of FDM productions, she and Bethany produced a short film called Two Blue Lines about teenage pregnancy, which was shown in Manchester city centre and was taken up as an eductional aid.

She is set to appear on North West Tonight as ‘the country’s youngest TV director’ and has ambitions to go to the top of her game.

Robyn said: "I’ve wanted to become a director for a long time, since I did theatre at school and then became interested in film.

"I’ve done lots of research and can’t find anyone younger than me working as a director."

The shoot for Life As I Know It took place during the Christmas break and, at one point, the team feared it would not be completed in time.

But having worked flat out for 12 hours a day, seven days a week and taking only Christmas Day and New Year’s Day off, the filming was completed in the nick of time.

The team wanted to get viewers involved in the show, and have created Facebook and Twitter pages for each of the characters and web blogs by the series narrator.

Robyn said: "The series is about student life in Manchester - the ups and downs, ins and outs, relationships and friendships – it’s an honest drama."
