The health body which runs Macclesfield hospital is consulting with residents on its bid to become a foundation trust.

The move by East Cheshire NHS Trust will give health bosses more freedom to manage its own affairs and finances.

A public consultation will be launched at Macclesfield library on Monday at 12pm and will last 14 weeks.

The trust will then prepare a bid to health secretary Jeremy Hunt.

The aim of a Foundation Trust is to run as a organisation which adapts services to meet the needs of their patients and the local community.

All NHS Trusts must move to Foundation status by 2014.

For full details on the consulation see this week's Macclesfield Express.
