A woman had to be cut from a car after it was involved in an accident on the Cat and Fiddle.

The car, which had been travelling along Buxton New Road at around 7.30pm last night (Tuesday, November 15), had left the road and ended up in a field close to the Cat and Fiddle pub.

Firefighters had to remove the roof of the car to rescue a woman, assisted by the ambulance service's Hazard Area Reponse Team (HART).

The casualty was carried out on a long board and treated by paramedics for back and neck pain. She was then taken to Wythenshawe Hospital as a major trauma case.

A second casualty was also treated at the team but was not admitted to hospital.

No other vehicles were involved.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue said two fire engines attended the scene. Police were also in attnedance.

They said: “One car was involved in a road traffic collision leaving a woman trapped in the vehicle. Paramedics treated one casualty while firefighters stabilised the car and used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof of the car to release, on a long board, the second casualty.

“The car had left the road and was in a field close to the Cat and Fiddle pub.”

A spokesperson for the ambulance said they were called to the scene at 7.30pm.

She said: "An ambulance and two HART teams were in attendance. The car was in a field close to the Cat and Fiddle pub.

"There were two patients. There was a doctor at the scene who looked after the patients until the ambulance and fire arrived.

"A casualty was taken to Wythenshawe Hospital as a major trauma case."
