A 50 year-old woman has been charged with arson after a fire at a flat in Hurdsfield.

Debra Cannon, appeared before Macclesfield Magistrates court on Friday accused of Arson, being reckless as to endanger life.

Fire crews were called to the Forest House block of flats on Delamere Drive at around 2pm last Wednesday.

They discovered a well-developed fire in a flat on the third floor.

Firefighters, two wearing breathing apparatus, used a high pressure hose to extinguish the blaze.

An industrial-power fan was also used to disperse the smoke.

There were no reported injuries and the building, owned by Cheshire Peaks and Plains housing trust, did not need to be fully evacuated.

Cannon, of Delamere Drive, Macclesfield, will appear before Chester Crown court on Tuesday August 16.
