STUDENTS from Wilmslow and Alderley Edge helped smash King’s School’s A-level record.

In what are the best examination results ever achieved by the Macclesfield independent school 24 per cent of all grades were A*, while 54 per cent of all grades were A* or A.

Among the high flyers were Laurence Holt, 18, of Upcast Lane, Alderley Edge, who got an A* and two B grades. He will read International Business and Economics at Leeds.

His schoolmate Matthew Stubbs, 18, got an A and two Bs and will read Business Management at Sheffield.

Headmaster Dr Simon Hyde said: “The students from Wilmslow and Alderley Edge have once again proved to be among our very best.”
