AFTER leaving school, Wesley spent five years in the army and achieved the rank of captain. During his working life, he attained director level in a large international company.

He was married for 40 years before and was widowed in 2004. He now lives with his partner, Joan, in Wilmslow.

Wesley has been a Macclesfield Borough councillor for the past 12 years.

He was elected as deputy leader of the council after two years and is currently serving his fourth year as leader of the council.

He said: "I am seeking election to the new council to help ensure that service delivery is streamlined and costs to the taxpayer are tightly controlled.

"I have supported the creation of a Cheshire East Unitary Council from the beginning, and I want to use my skills and experience to help set up the new council for the benefit of all Wilmslow residents.

"I want to see clear accountability, effective local services and a genuine 'can do' attitude and ensure value for money local services."
