MUSICIANS from around the town will take part in a weekend of events for the Oxjam charity appeal.

The town centre will be transformed into a festival of live music and there will be artists playing in venues across Macclesfield for the Oxjam takeover event to raise money for Oxfam’s work fighting poverty around the world.

The show forms part of Oxjam month of music which sees thousands of fundraising music events put on by communities across the UK.

Michael Chisholm, who is organising the event, said: “We’re really excited to be playing our part in making Macclesfield part of a month-long musical celebration across the country. This takeover is all about showing that the best in local music can have a global impact too. So everyone who comes along can have a great night while also knowing they’re helping to change lives.”

Entry will be by suggested donation only and there will be fun activities to take part in through the weekend. The music comes from a wide range of genres.

The venues for the Macclesfield takeover are Mash Guru, Kiva Club, The Swan with Two Necks, Toast Bar and The Porters Prince of Wales.

The committee is looking for volunteers to donate some time during the weekend to help the event run smoothly.

Michael said: “If you love live music and want to make a difference then please get in touch.”
