Police are urging the public to be vigilant after a man approached a woman in Styal woods and told her he could harm her.

The woman was out walking her dog in the woods when she became aware of a man walking behind her.

She stopped to let him past and the man made a comment to her. As he drew level with her he said a further comment insinuating that he could harm her.

The incident happened on Thursday December 29 between 2pm and 2.30pm.

The suspect was a white male of stocky build and medium height.

DC Jim Bowbeer who is leading the investigation said: "While no crime has been committed it has concerned us enough to ask the local community to exercise awareness and vigilance for their personal safety."
