A dedicated duo have been recognised for their work with a first aid charity.
John Bradbury and Patricia Carroll, from Macclesfield, have received awards for service to St John Ambulance.
John, 62, has been an active member for 30 years and has been unit manager for the past three. He has also acted as transport manager looking after the unit’s ambulances and used his radio communication skills to link with Raynet to provide cover at events such as the Macclesfield marathons.
Pat, 80, also a long serving member, helped to run the Badgers, a group for six to ten-year-olds, in addition to doing a large number of event duties and looking after the stores for the unit.
She is also been heavily involved with the Activity In Retirement group.
They were both invested as Members of the Order of St John by the Prior of the Order Rodney Green CBE at a ceremony in a church in Clerkenwell.
Barrie Davies, chair of the Cheshire County Priory Group of the Order, said: “I have seen first hand the work that Pat and John have done around the Macclesfield area for the benefit of the community and I am proud of their efforts and those of other volunteers locally.
“The honour is given for a lot more than just long service.
“Both pat and john have been involved in st john as well as doing normal first aidcd duties they have done quite a lot extra in the way of other things throughout the community.”
