Police are hunting a man after members of the public were threatened with a weapon.

At 2.10pm on Thursday, August 4, police were called to reports of a robbery at a shop in Prestbury village centre.

Witnesses say they saw a man enter the shop and make demands for money.

A small quantity of cash was handed over before the offender fled the shop.

When challenged, the offender is alleged to have threatened members of the public with what was believed to be a knife before fleeing in the direction of Bollin Valley.

Officers are trying to trace the man, who is described as being white, of slim build, in his mid-twenties and dressed all in black.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information is urged to contact Cheshire police on 101, quoting incident 483 of 4 August 2016 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
