A UFO enthusiast claims the town is a ‘hotspot’ for UFO activity.

It comes after reader Chris Henry contacted the Express claiming to have seen a strange, unidentified flying object from his kitchen window on Mayfield Avenue in the town.

Robert Hulse, who lives on Hulley Road, in Macclesfield, says he has studied UFO encounters, as well as crop circles, animal mutilations and human abductions, for 36 years.

He also says he has lectured on the subjects in the UK and Australia, as well as taking part in radio programmes, documentaries and writing magazine articles.

The now retired grandfather-of-two, 63, who runs website macclesfieldufosociety.co.uk, says he has had several sightings of UFOs in the town, the most significant of which was in 1980.

He said: “That sighting was a huge turning point for me. It happened on Oak Grove, near Fool’s Nook on the Macclesfield to Leek Road, when I was driving home one evening. I pulled into a layby and got out of the car to find a huge disc shaped craft about 90ft in diameter with 11 windows hovering right above me and blotting out the sky.

“I was with my wife and son and we watched it slowly fly towards Lime Green – being so close if it’d been anything else it would’ve deafened us.

“I wasn’t frightened at all, I was just immediately aware this was a vehicle not from this world and felt quite privileged.”

The former King’s School pupil cites the Croker Hill, Gawsworth, Leek Road and Bosley Cloud areas as common areas of alien visitation. He also says there is an energy line running through Bosley, which he says has ‘a definite connection’ to UFO sightings.

He said: “There’s been quite a lot going on in the Bosley area which has always been a busy location. I have the strongest feeling there’s some kind of UFO base there. Strange lights have been seen around the Bosley Cloud area for at least 50 years and I’ve heard of at least a dozen sightings there.

“I think I have a very close relationship with extra terrestrials – I seem to attract them.”

He said he was unable to identify what Chris saw but that he was keen to assist anyone who thinks they have seen a UFO.

As for sceptics, he said: “Their responses are usually down to fear and not taking the trouble to look at the evidence.”
