Two cut from car after Macclesfield crash

Two women with suspected spinal injuries had to be cut from a vehicle after a crash in Macclesfield on Friday morning.

Two women with suspected spinal injuries had to be cut from a vehicle after a crash in Macclesfield on Friday morning.

The collision happened at the junction of Mill Lane and Windmill Street at 10.45am.

It involved a red Fiat Punto being driven by a 42-year-old woman with one female passenger and a silver BMW driven by a male.

The A523 Mill Lane was closed for two hours while firefighters removed the roof of the Punto and moved the casualties using a longboard.

The casualties were then transferred to hospital by ambulance.

The road reopened at 12.30pm.
