ASK your Prestbury neighbour for a kick-around and you could find yourself tackling a soccer superstar.

For the tiny village is under pitch invasion from THREE new millionaire football players.

Hot on the booted heels of Wayne Rooney, England and Manchester United team mates Wes Brown and Owen Hargreaves have moved in right next door.

And keen to make the line up, Argentinian super-star, Carlos Tevez has scored a pad just 500 yards away from Rooney’s £4.5million faux-Georgian mansion in the village.

They all live so close together they could hold an inpromptu match across their gardens – and their top league pay packets have been put to good use.

Defender Wes Brown, 28, has splashed out £4million on his swanky new pad, while ex-Bayern Munich midfielder Owen Hargreaves, 27, is looking to spend a cool £4.2m.

And Tevez, set to bring a little bit of salsa to the sleepy village, has spent a relatively frugal £3m to score his home.

Prestbury has become a hot-bed for some of the best football players in the world – and Macclesfield’s local pub teams should be shaking in their amateur boots.

But Prestbury Football Club chairman Mike griffiths, is thrilled with the new signings.

Mike, 43, of Meadow Drive, said: "We would take them on in a game of five-a-side or even a full game."

He added: "It would be fantastic if they could come down and help us out, maybe do a little bit of coaching."

And Mike is not the only resident ready to welcome the new footballing fraternity to Prestbury’s field of dreams.

Borough Councillor Thelma Jackson, of Woodford Lane, said: "It doesn‘t bother me if football players move in, all I care about is if they get don‘t get involved in village life and close themselves behind big gates. I would like them to integrate.

"They can join in, they are always welcome – they can come and get involved with the pantomime if they want."

She added: "And if Carlos Tevez wants to help villagers swap the fox-trot for some latin salsa, he is more than welcome!"

But the new neighbours could bring bulldozers.

Carol Hamilton, a long time resident of Withinlee Road, said: "Footballers moving in is not the issue. There is considerable concern within the community about the knock-down and rebuild which seems to be happening – and residents feel they don’t have enough in-put to these decisions."

Michael Kyte, chartered surveyor with Gascoigne Halman in Prestbury, explained the footballer influx.

He said: "There have been lots of new-builds, loads to choose from in the area, and there is a lot of demand.

"There are excellent links to Manchester and the airport, and there are good local schools."

It took Sir Alex a fair few million and rather a long time to amass his team of champions, but all Prestbury needs is one more United player to form, without a doubt, the best five-aside village football team in the world!
