Macclesfield was buzzing at the weekend when thousands of people flocked to the town centre for the 2012 Barnaby Festival.

There was something for everyone with every nook and cranny filled with art displays, performances or workshops for children and adults to enjoy.

The most popular events included the art trail, which led participants around all the instillations, and the Midsummer Parade, with schools and community groups across Macclesfield entertaining the crowds with home made floats and puppets.

Harp 2 Harp at the King Edward Street Chapel and Cheshire Goes Gospel Choir at St Michael’s Church were very popular, and almost 150 people packed into the Park Tavern for the SciBar event.

Lynne Jones, one of the organisers, said: “Overall it was a superb weekend with Treacle Market swelling the numbers on Sunday, and Street Fest and Outdoor Laughter workshops going down a storm.” Macclesfield MP David Rutley also attended the event. He said: “I went to the open-air worship service on Sunday which I thought was fantastic. There were about 700 people there which is quite something.”
