Langley secured third win on the trot at the weekend and their first ever victory over a good Rylands side at Cockhall Lane.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat on a damp wicket they got off to a solid start but with the score on 34 Frame had Malone LBW for 26, he then picked up his second wicket taking a fine return catch.

Rylands’ Platt and Mason steadied things and took the score to 89 before Frame picked up his third wicket aided by a fine slip catch by Hollinshead. Joel Unsworth then produced a touch of magic, running out Platt with a fine dive and throw, and Langley’s steady stream of wickets resulted in Rylands being bowled out for 155, with Frame bowling unchanged for 24 overs to finish on 5-61, Joel Unsworth took 2-58.

In reply Langley started well as all the batsman looked in good touch.

Contributions from Hollinshead (28), Gregory (20), Platt (22), Joel Unsworth (42) and Stevens (15 not out) took Langley to a comfortable victory as they reached their target off just 30 overs.

Langley’s second XI had a fine victory over local rivals Kerridge.

After Langley had scored 199-6 with Chris Tatler scoring 68, Kerridge were bowled out for 70 with Rick Laughton taking a remarkable 6-6.

They remain top of League Five with three games to go.
