WE CATCH up with three locals who are making their mark on the TV and silver screens ...

STARLET Alice Barlow is the latest face to join the beautiful cast of Hollyoaks.

The 18-year-old, of Andertons Lane, Henbury, made her small screen debut as tortured soul Rae on Monday night, joining the team as a regular cast member.

Ex-Fallibroome High School Student Alice said: "I am absolutely on top of the world, I can’t believe I’m on Hollyoaks.

"When I was little I had two dreams, one to sing in front of a live audience, which I have done, and the other to have a part on a soap, which I am doing now!"

Alice appeared in the Express last year after winning first place in singing competition The Stobart Factor.

Alice added: "It’s so amazing, I love it. But it is quite hard work too – I'm nothing like the character at all so it takes a lot of acting!"

Catch Alice in Hollyoaks every weekday on Channel Four, at 6.30pm.

FLAME-haired Lydia Tunstall swapped a packed-out theatre for a television audience on Tuesday when she appeared on the Paul O'Grady show.

The 11-year-old, of Hillside Drive, Macclesfield, who’s been starring on-stage as Annie on a nationwide tour, was invited onto the Channel Four chat show to show off her singing skills to the nation.

Speaking before her live appearance she said: "I’m looking forward to meeting Paul O'Grady, I think he’s funny.

Lydia, who’s been having a week off, has taken the opportunity to return to her classes at Terra Nova Preparatory School.

She said: "I loved seeing all my friends but it was a bit confusing because I’ve got different teachers!"

She now has her eye on playing one of the children in Mary Poppins or Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. She said: "I am not sure if I want to be famous, I just want to perform."

THESPIAN Steve Murphy is making a move from Silver Street in Bollington to the silver screen in the new British film, The Spell.

The 52-year-old father-of one, took on his first starring role for the movie now appearing at the Showcase cinema in Manchester, following a showing in Leeds last week.

He said: "It feels fantastic. Acting is something I did when I was much older, my wife called it my mid-life crisis – I suppose it's cheaper than a motorbike!

"It's something I always wanted to do so I thought I would give it a go."

Steve, who has also appeared in Emmerdale, Coronation Street, and the Hollywood blockbuster Children of Men, plays the father of the central character Jenny.

Steve, who is married to Anne, is now waiting with baited breath to find out how his film fares.
