The King’s School in Macclesfield is one of England’s great schools. Founded in 1502, it has built on its tradition of innovation to develop a stunning range of academic and extra-curricular opportunities.

With over 1,400 pupils it is one of the nation’s most successful independent secondary schools. Yet its unique diamond structure, which provides a blend of single sex education and co-education, means it operates in a series of small and happy communities in which every child is valued.

The school educates children from ages three to 18, providing co-education in the infants and juniors, single sex teaching through the ages 11 16 and brings the students back together once again for a co-educational Sixth Form before higher education.

This superb system not only delivers huge educational benefits but also offers as small school communities enabling King’s to be the very happy, friendly school for which it is renowned.

Academic results are excellent. In the Junior Division results at Keystage 1 and 2 are nothing short of remarkable, while in the Girls’ and Boys’ divisions this year King’s enjoyed its best ever GCSE results. Pupils typically study nine GCSE’s and three or four A levels. The vast majority of students go on to further education with over 90 per cent gaining places at their first choice university and typically 10 candidates go to Oxbridge.

King’s is about so much more than just academic endeavour though. It offers an outstanding range of opportunities for all of its pupils from orchestras to fencing, debating to surfing, a rugby tour to New Zealand to an equestrian club. The list is long and rich giving our pupils fantastic opportunities to discover and develop their talents. King’s truly delivers a broad and rounded education.
