A TEEN queen from Handforth is perfecting her best angelic pose as she battles to become a polished youth ambassador.

Elena Alvarez-Taylor, 16, of Hallwood Road, is through to the semi final of national beauty pageant "Miss Teen Queen UK 2009" and looking for your votes to be in with a chance of winning the competition and being labelled a role model for teens around the country.

Elena, a pupil at Loreto Grammar School, in Altrincham, had a taste of life in front of the camera at a photo shoot in London for her competition entry picture.

She said: "I’m really pleased to have been picked and it was exciting doing my own photo shoot. I need people to vote for me."

Elena was scouted at Clothes Show Live in Liverpool and is one of the 50 girls this month whose pictures are online for the public vote.

The lovely wanabees will be whittled down to three lucky ladies who will join the final 36 at the end of the year to fight for the title.

But Elena will have to prove she is more than just a pretty face - she must be a pristine teen ambassador.

Elena, a member of St Benedict’s Church, added: "It’s not like a typical beauty pageant, you don’t have to be a size zero to do well, the judges are very fair. It’s more about confidence and personality and how that comes across in the pictures. And you have to be a good citizen."

The beauty hopeful, who lives with parents Begonia and Stephen and brother Alex, says she is up to the challenge, adding: "I think I would be a good role model, I am a normal girl and want to show the community that young people are not all bad. Last year’s winner did a lot for charity and raised a lot of money and I’d like to do that."

Visit www.missteenqueenuk.com  to vote for Elena, the deadline is June 30.
