A teenage cyclist has died following a collision with a car.

The 17-year-old died in hospital after the incident in Macclesfield.

Police were called to Hursdfield Road at 10.43pm last night (Sunday).

A green Toyota Hiace, travelling towards Rainow, collided with the bike at the junction of Steeple Street.

A 66-year-old woman driving the Toyota was not injured. The teenager has not been named.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “The 17-year-old boy suffered serious injuries and was taken to Macclesfield District General Hospital where he sadly died in the early hours of Monday.”

Police are appealing for witnesses.
