Children have been caught on camera risking their lives at a derelict mill.

A PCSO from Macclesfield Police spotted a group of teenage boys and girls at Lower Hayes Mill, home to the former Barracks Fabrics, on Black Lane, Macclesfield.

The shocking photograph shows the group balancing on a wall above the roof of one of the buildings.

The image was posted on the Macclesfield Police’s twitter with a stark warning: ‘The risks here are endless.

‘Not only for these youths, but for the services that would have to rescue them #think’.

Children are being told to stay away form the dangerous building

Police have confirmed that none of the teenagers were arrested for trespassing but they were spoken to by the PCSO about the dangers.

The site, known to children as ‘the bomb house’, has been a derelict eyesore since 2004 when fire ripped through the buildings. It was targeted again by arsonists in 2013.

The seven-hectare site has been the focus of several failed development bids, including a Tesco’s supermarket in 2012 .

However, there is fresh hope for the site with plans for a £13m retail park proposed by Castlemore Securities Limited.
