THE electricity grid is expected to come under severe strain tomorrow morning when dozens of fundraisers switch on their kettles for World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

The annual event in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support brings people together to share coffees and teas, with a likely accompaniment of biscuits and cakes.

Visitors enjoying a cuppa are invited to make donations towards the national Macmillan Cancer Support, which helps people living with cancer.

There are many events taking place in Macclesfield, the surrounding villages and Poynton.

In the town centre Leek United Building Society’s Macclesfield branch where staff will be sharing refreshments with customers and running a Sweeps-cake competition from 10am to 2pm.

Cruise and Travel Lounge on Chestergate have an event from 10.30am, while Macclesfield United Reformed Church on Park Green are opening their doors at 10am.

Sylvia's coffee morning will take place at Scissors hairdressers on Samuel Street from 10am.

Hurdsfield Community Library is putting on the kettle at 10am at the same time as Ivy House on Ivy Road on the Weston estate.

Even the radiology department at Coffee Morning Macclesfield Hospital are getting involved with brews starting at 8.30am.

Housing firm Places for People have an event on Wykeham Chase on the Weston at 10am, while Francesca and Kayleigh's coffee morning will be Langley Village Hall from 1pm on Sunday.

The Miners Arms pub in Adlington is running an event from 10am and there are brews available at Poynton Civic Centre from 9am.
