Footballer’s favourite chippie Fosters will have bargain hungry customers roo-ting for England during the World Cup.
To support the national team the award winning Alderley Edge chip shop, popular with Wayne Rooney and many of his team mates, will dish up a free fish supper to clients every time one of their famous customers scores a goal.
Owners Kath Foster, 34, and her husband Gareth, 37, hope the offer will give even the most reluctant of football fans a taste for the beautiful game.
Mum-of-two Kath said: "We wanted to do something to get everyone involved in the fun and supporting our national team – especially members of the squad who are also loyal customers of ours, which include Carrick, Crouch and Kewell.
"England captain Rio Ferdinand is also a customer of ours, but unfortunately he is out of the World Cup now."
The couple have already installed a 40 inch plasma television in the celebrity choice chippy on Chorley Hall Lane so everyone can keep an eye on the games.
And all customers will get a free drink or ice cream when any England player scores a goal.
Gareth added: "It seemed a shame to have so many of our customers playing in the tournament and not to do something to cheer them on."
And one lucky customer will also get the chance to take away an England shirt signed by Wayne Rooney if they correctly predict how many goals will be scored during the tournament.
Gareth opened the restaurant in September 1995, shortly after his 23rd birthday.
Since then, his cod and chips have graced the dinner tables of countless Alderley Edge homes, including many footballing and television celebrities including Coronation Street’s Ken Barlow, William Roache.
And he now plans to expand and another shop in Didsbury later this year.
Whether customers bag a free portion of Gareth and Kath’s award winning fish and chips for themselves now all depends on our England squad.
The offer is strictly limited to one meal per customer.
