The employer and the former school of a man who died after being attacked at a music festival have paid tribute to him.

Robert Hart, 26, was knocked unconscious by a fellow reveller at the Parklife festival in Greater Manchester on Saturday – he died later in hospital.

Barclays bank paid tribute to a “valued member of staff” who died after being attacked at a music festival.

Mr Hart lived in Liverpool and worked at the Barclays call centre in Wavertree.

Cath Meldon, head of customer service for Barclays at the Wavertree site, said: “Rob was a valued member of staff, he will be greatly missed by all at Barclays.

“Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go to Robert’s family and his girlfriend at this extremely sad time.”

Mr Hart, who grew up in Macclesfield and attended university in Liverpool, was attacked as he tried to stop his girlfriend Gemma Parry from being repeatedly whacked with an inflatable toy.

His brother Richard also paid tribute, writing on the Manchester Evening News website: “Miss you brother, my son will become a complete double act of you.”

The former school of Robert Hart, who tragically died after being attacked at Parklife, have also paid tribute and have spoken of his time there.

Robert attended Fallibroome Academy in Macclesfield between 1999 and 2006.

He left with three A-levels and completed his Duke of Edinburgh Award before heading to university in Liverpool.

Headteacher Peter Rubery said the school’s community was ‘stunned’ by his death.

Paying tribute Mr Rubery said: “Robert was well known at Fallibroome for his warm personality and keen sense of humour.

“He was passionate about Design Technology and had ambitions to train as a teacher.

“To this end he made a significant contribution to school life by offering in-class support for lower school children and developing his public service skills by completing his Duke of Edinburgh Award.

“Robert will be sadly missed by his many friends and teachers who welcomed his cheerful disposition and skills as a graphic designer.

“We wish to extend our deepest sympathy to his family at this distressing time.”

Greater Manchester Police issued an e-fit of the suspected attacker and called for witnesses to come forward.

The offender is described as a mixed race male, aged in his late 20s and about 6ft 1in tall.

He has a muscular build and short, dark hair which was shaved at the sides.

He was wearing shorts and a blue, bomber-style jacket with the letter ‘A’ in white on the front.

Detective Inspector Richard Eales: “Our immediate thoughts go out to Robert’s family and loved ones. We currently have specially trained officers with them to help through this terrible time.

“We are still in the early stages of this investigation, however several witnesses have assisted us with vital information concerning the description of the offender.

“We believe a confrontation took place following an inflatable doll hitting Robert’s girlfriend.

“We are aware other assaults took place in the park that evening, but I am specifically appealing for witnesses who recall seeing the inflatable doll and the attack on Robert immediately thereafter.

“I am keen for those witnesses to come forward and other persons nearby who may have mobile phone footage of the attack or captured an image of the person responsible.

“Finally, if you are the man responsible or were with him that evening, please come forward.”
