School pupils have raised more than £10,000 for charity with a mammoth 230 mile bike ride.

Fundraisers from Beech Hall School cycled from London to Tytherington to raise money for Friends of Park Lane Special School.

And on Saturday they rode up Beech Hall Drive to a heroes’ welcome along with Park Lane pupils on specially adapted bikes.

Red and black ticker tape fell from the school’s second floor as Harry Lyons, Louis Brocklehurst, Otis Palmes, Sam Timson, Brad Monroe, Sam Thornton-West and Ewan Jones completed their laps of honour.

Friends of Park Lane has close ties with Beech Hal. The money raised will help renovate the school’s hydrotherapy pool.

Beech Hall headteacher James Allen said staff were ‘incredibly proud’ of pupils who had ‘trained rigorously’.

He added: “Park Lane is very close to many people’s hearts at the school and in the area and we’re thrilled our boys pulled out all the stops to achieve this amazing feat.”
