Police are trying to trace a woman who may have seen an indecent assault at Wilmslow rail station. It involved a 16-year-old girl at 5.50am on Saturday December 17.

PC Simon Trow said the girl was at the station when she was approached by a man who tried to start a conversation with her.

He said: "The girl was frightened by the man and walked to platform four to stand near to another passenger at the waiting room.

"She was followed by the man who made lewd comments to her and then touched her inappropriately before she was able to run away."

PC Trow added: "We are now trying to trace the other person on the platform – a woman – who we believe is a key witness."

A 30-year-old man from Manchester was arrested and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
