The incident happened at 4am yesterday (August 4) at the Co-operative Food store on London Road, Macclesfield.

It is believed that a vehicle was used to try and gain access to the rear of the shop via the customer car park.

The shop was temporarily closed while police investigated and a large part of the rear of the building was boarded up.

A spokesperson for Co-op said: “There was an incident in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday, 4 August) at around 4am.
