Punters at the Old Ship Inn swapped pints for pies to take part in the pub’s very own bake off.

It was organised by landlord Mike Collier who came up with the idea to put his locals’ skills to the test with the fun game.

Seventeen pies were entered into the competition, with exotic Mexican pies and the traditional pork pie under the critical eye of the three volunteer judges – but it was Mike’s own fish pie which scooped the top pie prize.

Mike Carter, who was drafted to take photographs of the pies on offer, said: “The challenge was to make the pies totally from scratch – you could choose whatever filling you wanted – and there were 17 pies in total, all completely different.

“It was a lot of fun. I think everyone enjoyed it.”
