Proud pooches strutted their stuff at the Treacle Market’s annual dog show.

More than 60 dogs were entered by their owners for the event, held in St Michael’s Churchyard and hosted by Cheshire greyhound and lurcher rescue charity Erin Hounds.

Categories included ‘Best Scruff’, Best Puppy’, ‘Best Rescue’, ‘Best Veteran’, ‘Best Dressed’ and ‘Best Stallholder’s Dog’, with prizes also given for ‘Prettiest Bitch’ and ‘Most Handsome Dog’. Judges, Deputy Mayor of Macclesfield Coun Alift Harewood-Jones and Barnaby Festival director Karl Wallace, voted Saluki ‘Ollie’ Best In Show, which also scooped the title of ‘Most Handsome’.

‘Reserve Best In Show’ and ‘Best Stallholder’s Dog’ went to Jack Russell ‘Jeff’, with Bedlington Terriers ‘Puppy’ and ‘Gracie’ judged ‘best dressed’.

Erin Hound rescue dog Tilly, a three legged saluki cross, won ‘Best Rescue’ dog for her ‘full of beans’ personality. Erin Hounds volunteer Rosey Green said: “It was a lovely sunny day with a wonderful turnout of dogs and great fun. We are very grateful to our Treacle friends for inviting us to host the show again and would like to thank everyone who contributed prizes and help.”
