A dazzling variety of flowers, fruit and vegetables thrilled an appreciative crowd at this year’s Alderley Edge Allotments Annual Village Show.

Entries for the show were down on last year’s event but that didn’t stop exhibitors showing off their impressive produce – from huge runner beans to a giant pumpkin.

For the second year in a row, the show made a small profit.

Ian Copeland, from AEA, said: "The show may have got off to a damp start, but this did not put off the many faithful who come along to enjoy this major event.

"The day began as usual with Owen Spence making his 6.45am walk through the village carrying a 12ft sunflower to adorn the show entrance."
