Barking and yelping filled the air at this week's Treacle Market.

More than 70 dogs were entered by their owners for the new dog show, which made the event bigger, better and louder than ever.

Debbie Quinn, co-organiser, said: "It was the best yet, all the stallholders agreed.

"And everyone was surprised by such an excellent dog turnout."

Proceeds from the show, which featured alongside the usual array of stalls, went to Erin Hounds, a charity for retired greyhounds.

Next month's market on October 30, will be Halloween themed and bigger - extending onto Mill Street and Castle Street.
