The atmosphere was anything but flat when the annual pancake race made a welcome return to the town centre this week.

The annual contest to raise vital funds for Macclesfield Hospital charity MAST was cancelled last year due to a lack of participants. But its revival was met with huge support, with hundreds of supporters lining the streets to cheer on competitors including would-be MP David Rutley.

The Flipping Tossers, the Sports and Development team from Cheshire East Council, were crowned champions of the day after a very close final with The Four Tossers, the catering team from Macclesfield Hospital.
