Fire crews attended a house in Prestbury last night after a pan was left on the hob.
The firefighters from Macclesfield and Bollington attended Shirleys Close at 10pm but there was no fire when they arrived.
Food had been left to burn on the hob and the crews helped to disperse the smoke.
