OASIS fan Ben Hayes could hardly 'Look Back in Anger' after rock 'n' roll superstar Noel Gallagher dropped in at his house for a cuppa and a singsong!

In fact the Poynton chef couldn't be more happy after the songwriter in the legendary band turned up to perform a solo act... in his 12ft x 12ft lounge.

Ben, 22, of Abbey Court, off London Road, who has been to ten Oasis concerts, beat 20,000 entrants and clinched a tie-breaker to win top prize in Jo Whiley Radio 1's live show - a private gig by Noel Gallagher.

"As soon as he walked into the room he looked like a proper rock star," said Ben, who greeted the legend at his front door with a handshake.

He added: "He said 'hello' and walked in like a mate."

Gallagher signed Ben's guitar, his Oasis albums and gave him his plectrum used during the broadcast.

Ben said: "It was a bit of a squeeze as 16 of us packed in. It was an amazing atmosphere."

Mum, Janice, 48, brewed tea for everyone and also in on the mini-concert was Ben's dad John, 47, sister Charlotte, 11, brother Adam, 24, his girlfriend Kate Silvers, 22, and his best mate, fellow chef, Ian Lee, 26.

Ben, who works at Selfridge's, said: "He was really friendly. He's dead genuine.

"He's funny and quick with his comments. He drank cups of tea, and acted like a normal guy."

During the show, Gallagher played his tunes Half a World Away, The Importance of Being Idle, and Don't Look Back In Anger.

Ben said: "I've heard him play live before but it doesn't come close to when he's sitting there in the room with you. His voice is so powerful."

At the end of the session, Ben, and his girlfriend, Kate, 22, were then personally invited by Noel to a gig at The Lowry in Salford Quays, which was last Sunday.

"It was like seeing an old friend on stage," he said.
