THE NEW and improved Upton Priory School is coming on in leaps and bounds.

The sparkling learning experience, created from the amalgamation of the junior and infant schools on Upton Priory, has revolutionised its nursery care.

Caroline Richmond, foundation stage manager, said: "One of the issues we had to address was how to provide excellent quality all day nursery care for children coming to the school."

So from this month, the school will be offering an improved service by combining either a morning or afternoon session with the Upton Beehive Club, which offers ‘wrap-around’ care.

She added: "The nursery will continue to provide a warm, stimulating and happy atmosphere which fosters independent learning."

She said children will have access to structured play activities under the supervision of a fully qualified and experienced Early Years teacher and support staff.

She added: "The Upton Beehive Club has successfully offered extended hours, before and after school and during school holidays for children attending Upton Priory School, for a number of years.

"Children play alongside each other in a happy and safe environment."

The Beehive Club will also offer a lunch allowing the provision of supervised care from 8am to 6pm.

Headteacher Jonathan Rowley summed up the change.

He said: "Following our outstanding Ofsted Inspection last December, we are looking at ways of improving our facilities within the school.

"Our parents told us what provisions they were looking for from a nursery, and we are delighted to be able to offer this improvement to our current and future parents."
