Nominations are now being sought for an awards scheme that honours the unsung heroes of the community.

The Mayor of Macclesfield’s 2015 Community Awards will recognise and celebrate people who have volunteered their time and energy to help others.

The awards will be presented to the most remarkable individuals who do not belong to a local recognised organisation at a glitzy ceremony on March 29.

Mayor of Macclesfield Janet Jackson said: "In Macclesfield there are many individuals who volunteer their time and expertise for the good of the community. However, when individuals do not belong to an organised body there is often little or no recognition of their efforts and sacrifices.

"We are looking for those who have made a significant difference to the Macclesfield community, give sustained and selfless voluntary service or supports those less able to help themselves. If you know any inspirational people, nominate today."

Each nominee must be proposed by two separate individuals.

Nominations should include: an account of why the nominee should be considered and what they have contributed to the community; the name, address, email and phone number of proposer and nominee.

Entries should be posted to c/o Charter Trustee Secretary, Town Hall, Macclesfield, Cheshire, SK10 1EA.

The closing date for entries is January 31.

All enquiries should be made to the Mayor’s secretary Harriet Worrell on 01625 261950 or 07743 534385 .
