Tributes have been paid to Dorothy Bailey who has been named as one of the victims of the Bosley explosion.

Dorothy was identified as one of the four people who died in the tragedy at Wood Flour Mills on July 17.

Among those leaving messages on the Macclesfield Express Facebook page after the news was announced was her son Matthew Bailey.

He said: “R.I.P. mum. Love you now and forever.”

Cancer survivor Dorothy, 62, was working as a cleaner in the wood mill when the explosion went off.

She lived in a row of mill workers cottages next to the factory, which makes products using wood flour and handles a large volume of sawdust.

Her family described her as a loving mother to Christopher, Matthew and Edward and a doting grandmother.

She lived in Bosley most of her life and began working at the factory a short time ago.

Dorothy worked for East Cheshire Hospice for 10 years.

Friend Sylvia Jenkinson described her as “caring, cheerful and very hardworking” and some who “overcame cancer and did a lot for other people”.

Tim Doggett, of Lakeside, whose grandmother Vera Dines ran the Bosley corner shop, said Dorothy was “fantastic, a really bubbly lady”.

Kerri Whitham, of the Queens Arms, said Dorothy was “an amazing person, always happy, a very funny lady with an entertaining personality”.

Dorothy worked for East Cheshire Hospice for 10 years.

A spokesman said: “Dorothy was a popular personality in the team. She was incredibly hard working and would go the extra mile to help patients and colleagues.”

Other people used Facebook to pay tribute to Dorothy.

Jannine Jennings said: “Such a lovely lady xx another star in the sky.”

Sheila Smith said: “worked with Dot at East Cheshire Hospice x lovely lady.”

Margaret Moody Dorothy said: “worked with my husband Ian at the Boars Leigh - she was lovely person and friend to us both. Such tragic news and my thoughts are with her friends and family at this time.”
