A motorist is lucky to be alive after her car crashed through a wall.

Police, ambulance and fire services were called to Bonis Hall Lane, Prestbury, just after 2.30pm yesterday (Monday).

They found a car on its side and a woman trapped inside.

The car had sustained severe damage to the roof and windscreen.

Firefighters scrambled through the rear of the car and carefully removed the casualty using a spinal board.

Paramedics treated the woman at the scene for minor injuries and took her to Macclesfield Hospital.

Watch commander Andy Cumberstone said she was lucky to have escaped serious injury.

He said: “It appears she has lost control of the vehicle coming around the bend, the car has turned onto its side and crashed with some force into a substantial garden wall and gate pillar.

“There was a significant impact on the roof of the car. The roof had collapsed into the driver side.

“Had she been sitting in a different position closer to the steering wheel she may well have sustained serious injuries. She is very, very lucky. This was almost a very nasty accident.”
