A mortgage advisor has been banned from driving after he was caught with cannabis in his system.

James Brown, 38, was pulled over in his road by police who found a snap bag of the drug in his Mazda car.

Brown, of Willowmead Drive, Prestbury, admitted drug driving and possession of cannabis at Macclesfield magistrates’ court on October 27.

Now he has been fined £400 and banned from driving for 12 months.

The court heard that he was pulled over in Willowmead Drive just after midnight on September 5.

Debbie Byrne, prosecuting, said: “PC Barasart was following the defendant’s car and pulled it over.

“He could smell a strong smell of cannabis.

“The defendant admitted smoking earlier in the night.

“A roadside swab test had a positive result.

“The officer also found a snap bag of the drug on the defendant, which he confirmed was his.”

John Gallagher, defending, said: “The manner of his driving was never an issue in this case.

“There is a zero tolerance approach to cannabis and driving.

“This will have financial consequences. He will be unable to visit clients.”
