A mum is furious after thieves ruined her children’s holiday. Tracey Lake, 46, said the theft of the family trailer means her kids Alfie, six, and Darcey, four, will not be able to go on the camping holiday they were promised.

Tracey, who lives on Hulley Road, Hurdsfield, with husband Alan, said: "I’m really angry. I’m upset for the kids more than anything.

"It’s the only holiday the kids were going to get this year and now that’s been taken away from them.

"We were supposed to go away for May half-term but that’s not going to happen."

She added: "We struggle every year to save money, like many people, camping is all we can afford, but now without the trailer we can’t transport our tent and equipment."

The trailer, which is wood with a silver trim and white hub caps, was stolen from the Lake’s front garden sometime during the night of Thursday, March 10.

Tracey, a nurse at Macclesfield Hospital, said: "We’ve had it for five years. It was only an old one my husband had done up for us to use.

"I can’t see it being worth much – certainly not as much to them as it is to us. Whoever has taken it just hasn’t thought of the consequences at all."

Inspector Jez Taylor, head of Macclesfield Neighbour-hood Policing Team, said: "The likelihood is (the offenders) are using it for themselves rather than trying to sell it. We would ask people to keep their eyes peeled and let us know if they see it so we can go out and investigate.

"Anything that can be easily removed and is of value we advice to keep round the back of the property or, if that’s not possible, keep it secured."

If anyone does see a trailer, contact Macclesfield Police on 0184 458 0000, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
